In these photographs and installations,the animal becomes an equal presence with the figure. The animal’s gaze acknowledges the person in the space where the figure is protected to show that exposure to the animal’s environment as hazardous. Within the protective suit, the figure is separated from interacting with the animal. Using the staged background, the mediation of the natural environment becomes more apparent. In juxtaposition, the plants below the image are contained in the glass jars on display separating us from contaminating the plants; we become the biohazards.
