This work depicts the separation of humans from the natural environment. The existence of plant life in the staged setting represents a living environment and includes humans that are theatrically staged within. These staged scenes are tableau vivant like in style, the figure and the elements of the natural environment are separated from the context or place to which they seem to belong by a thin vail barrier. Wrapped in a semi-transparent barrier, the figure is somewhat restrained from freely experiencing or interacting with the environment around them. The dark background is a vivid statement of that separation. Wrapping renders the model unrecognizable and conceals his/her identity.
The presence of an animal with the figure is a symbol of the natural presence or spirit. In
these pieces, the animal figure acts as the white dove symbolizing an animal guide to connnet to our own animality.
